As you probably guessed from the title of this blog, I am interested in hosted software. Specifically, I appreciate how hosted software

  • Shifts the burden of installation and management from the purchasing user/organization to the hosted software provider
  • Generally leverages the Internet and the Web browser for distribution, making it globally accessible on varied devices
  • Often serves as the foundation of lucrative business models

And, I am intrigued by creative applications of hosted software in all the following:

  • Consumer-to-consumer plays (e.g. eBay)
  • B2C plays in non-profit and for-profit organizations (e.g. Amazon)
  • B2B plays in non-profit and for-profit organizations (e.g. SAP, Salesforce.com)

My involvement in the space has been both as a user (duh!) and as a business owner & creator of hosted software.  At the moment, that means this blog will include my experiences

  • Having “fun” managing my life with the latest and greatest consumer-oriented hosted apps
  • As Co-founder and CTO at Faves.com, a social bookmarking site with over 1M monthly visitors
  • Leveraging content management systems, specifically Drupal and Wordpress, to streamline workflows at non-profit and for-profit organizations
  • Occasionally speaking about online marketing, SEO, and/or entrepreneurship
